- VALENTINES DAY
The first-ever program conducted by the Dhruva Students Council took place on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2024, and it was a resounding success. The event featured an innovative "Confession Tree," where students wrote their confessions and hung them on a beautifully decorated tree. We also showcased a classic Malayalam movie titled "VETTOM," which added to the excitement of the day.
- DENTIST DAY
On March 6, we successfully hosted Dentist Day, an event that truly celebrated our dedication to the dental profession. We distributed thoughtful cards to every faculty member in our college, each featuring a beautiful quote that highlights the significance of being a dentist. This gesture was a genuine expression of our gratitude for their hard work and support. The faculty members were pleasantly surprised and deeply touched by this unexpected gift from us. All union members were present to hand out the cards, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. The smiles on the faces of the faculty were truly unforgettable and reinforced the strong bond we share within our college community.
- WOMEN'S DAY
The Union hosted an exciting interdepartmental photography competition in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event saw a remarkable participation from various departments, showcasing a plethora of creative entries that captured the essence of the occasion. The esteemed principal of Al Azhar Teachers Training College took on the important role of selecting the winners from the diverse collection of submissions. After careful deliberation, Devapriya P.S. from the Department of Orthodontics was announced as the competition's winner, earning recognition for her exceptional talent and artistic vision.
- IFTAR PARTY
On April 9th, we hosted a delightful ifthaar party for both students and staff in celebration of the holy month of Ramzan. The event was a grand affair, catering to over 200 attendees, and it turned out to be an unforgettable evening filled with warmth and culinary delights.
- NAAC Visit
On April 15th and 16th, 2024, we had the distinct honor of hosting a visit from the National Accreditation Assessment Council. The atmosphere throughout our institution was electric with anticipation as we meticulously prepared to showcase our strengths and achievements.
Among our esteemed guests were Dr. Pramod Yeole, the former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University; Dr. Aseem Prakash Tikku, a prominent professor at King George's Medical University; and Dr. Pulakhum Mahesh, Principal of Narayana Dental College in Nellore. Their presence added an air of significance to the day.
We endeavored to create a warm and memorable welcome for our distinguished visitors. Our Chairman, Sri K. M. Moosa Haji, along with Managing Director Adv. K. M. Mijas and Directors Dr. K. M. Paijas and Dr. K. M. Rijas, were at the forefront of the reception. They were joined by Mrs. Rajeena P. M., Mrs. Asiya Salim, Dr. Neethu S., Dr. Rameesha Jahan, and Administrative Officer of Al Azhar Group of Institutions Adv. Thajudheen. Our Principal, Prof. Dr. Vinod Kumar R. B., and Administrative Officer Dr. Amal E. A. were also present, all eager to extend a heartfelt welcome.
The entrance to our campus was a visual feast, adorned with vibrant decorations that spoke volumes of our hospitality. Students, dressed in their finest attire, warmly greeted the visitors with genuine smiles and palpable enthusiasm. The union members, wearing their promising blazers, added to the spirited atmosphere, creating a lively and inviting environment.
As the assessment team embarked on their tour of our campus, they engaged in a thorough examination of our state-of-the-art infrastructure and comprehensive academic offerings. Each classroom and facility had been meticulously polished and organized, reflecting the tireless dedication of our staff and students to maintain an exemplary learning environment.
The highlight of the day was undeniably a breathtaking performance organized by our talented students. They delivered an extraordinary display of creativity and skill, mesmerizing the audience and leaving our guests in a state of awe. It was evident that the students had poured their hearts and souls into this performance, and the joy and passion radiated through every act. The expressions of surprise and admiration on our guests' faces illuminated the moment, highlighting the impact of the students’ artistry and dedication. The enchanting show served as a testament to the vibrancy of our institution and the incredible talent nurtured within its halls.
- Dentofiesta
On July 25, 2024, we launched an exciting new initiative called Dentofiesta, featuring a series of inter-department competitions aimed at fostering creativity and teamwork among students. The first event, titled "Colour on Chlorophyll," invited participants to utilize real leaves as their canvas. Students showcased their artistic skills by painting the leaves, transforming them into unique pieces of art that reflected their individual creativity and appreciation for nature.
In addition to this, we hosted the event "Trash to Treasure," where students were encouraged to think innovatively about waste materials. Participants collected discarded items and repurposed them into impressive art installations, all centered around the theme of World Nature Conservation Day. This event not only highlighted the students' artistic talents but also underscored the importance of environmental awareness and sustainability.t
Both programs took place in the mini auditorium, which served as a vibrant backdrop for the events, allowing students to immerse themselves fully in the creative atmosphere. The impressive installations created during "Trash to Treasure" were later exhibited in the college hallway, inviting the entire college community to appreciate the students' ingenuity and commitment to environmental conservation.
Following the exhibitions, prizes were awarded to the outstanding participants in each competition. For "Colour on Chlorophyll," the winners were as follows: the first prize was claimed by the Department of Oral Pathology for their remarkable contribution, while the second prize went to the Department of Conservative Dentistry, and the third prize was awarded to the Department of Pedodontics for their creative efforts.
In the "Trash to Treasure" competition, the first prize was secured by the Department of Conservative Dentistry for their innovative installation. Second place was jointly awarded to the Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pedodontics, both of whom presented impressive works that captured the spirit of the competition. Finally, the Department of Periodontics took home the third prize for their engaging and thoughtful art piece.
The successful execution of Dentofiesta not only showcased the talents of our students but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and environmental consciousness within our college community.
- NATIONAL ORAL HYGIENE DAY
In celebration of National Oral Hygiene Day, we organized a vibrant poster-making competition on July 31, 2024, held in the main auditorium, followed by an engaging quiz competition on August 1, 2024, in the mini auditorium. Both events focused on themes related to oral hygiene and encouraged participation from various departments.
The poster-making competition showcased a wonderful display of creativity and knowledge, with the Department of Orthodontics taking home the prestigious first prize. The excitement didn't stop there, as the second prize was uniquely shared between two outstanding departments: the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology. Demonstrating impressive skill and insight, the Department of Conservative Dentistry claimed the third prize.
The quiz competition was equally thrilling, with the Department of Conservative Dentistry emerging victorious as the first prize winner. Following closely, the Department of Prosthodontics secured the second prize, while the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology proudly took home the third prize. Both events not only highlighted the importance of oral hygiene but also fostered camaraderie among departments.
- Treasure hunt
On August 21, 2024, we organized an exciting treasure hunt at the mini auditorium, a vibrant event tied to the upcoming convocation ceremony for the 2018 batch. This engaging activity served as an interdepartmental competition, bringing together teams from various departments to showcase their teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Participants eagerly followed key hints that guided them through the thrilling hunt, leading to many moments filled with laughter and camaraderie. The culmination of this adventure was the discovery of a special treasure: a key that, when unveiled, revealed both the logo and the name of the much-anticipated convocation ceremony, aptly titled "ZYVORAH," which translates to "guiding light." The unveiling was a memorable highlight of the day, with our esteemed principal, Dr. Vinod Kumar R B, taking center stage to reveal the significance of the event.
Following this exciting moment, the atmosphere erupted into a celebration as house surgeons from the 2018 batch treated everyone to a spectacular flash mob and captivating dance performances. The entire event was infused with joy and enthusiasm, making it a truly unforgettable experience for all involved.
- TEACHERS DAY
Teachers' Day was celebrated on September 5th with great enthusiasm. To commemorate the occasion, students presented greeting cards to all faculty members, each adorned with a small mirror inside. When the teachers opened their cards and caught a glimpse of their own reflections, their faces lit up with joy and surprise. The thoughtful gesture brought smiles and laughter, as the faculty expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the student council for such a delightful and memorable keepsake. It was a wonderful celebration that highlighted the appreciation for educators and their hard work.
- PRECONVOCATION GLOW PARTY
On the evening of September 6th, a vibrant pre-convocation ceremony took place in the main auditorium, radiating a neon-themed glow that transformed the venue into a spectacular festivity. The event welcomed esteemed guests, including our principal, Dr. Vinod Kumar R B, our administrative officer, Dr. Amal E A, and our dedicated staff advisors, Dr. Albert Baby and Dr. Sreekala, who added a touch of honor to the occasion.
As the clock struck 6:30 PM, students began to fill the auditorium, their excitement palpable as they prepared for a night to remember. The program ran until 10:00 PM, allowing ample time for celebration. A particularly poignant moment occurred when the 2017 batch took the stage to cut the cake, accompanied by a captivating slideshow on an LED screen that showcased their cherished memories. This emotional highlight brought a wave of nostalgia, evoking smiles and perhaps a few tears among the graduates.There were also fun filled games session for both students and staffs.
As the night progressed, DJ Vineed took control of the turntables, filling the room with pulsating beats that had everyone dancing. The mesmerizing glow of neon lights danced around the auditorium, creating an atmosphere of pure exhilaration. Attendees were lost in a joyful trance, fully immersed in the exhilarating rhythms and electrifying energy of the night. It was undoubtedly a rave night that left everyone buzzing with joy and cherished memories.
- ONAM CELEBRATIONS KALIKA
The vibrant festival of Onam was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at our college where the entire campus was lively with excitement as students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate onam which symbolizes unity, harmony, and prosperity.
Inaugural Ceremony:
The celebration began at 9:00 AM with an inaugural ceremony in the college auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of our esteemed Manager Adv. Mijas moosa, along with the college principal, Prof.Dr. Vinod kumar R B, administrative officer, dr. Amal e a and other dignitaries. The opening speech was given by the managing director sir, who emphasized the importance of cultural festivals in building a strong sense of community on campus.
A vibrant floral carpet was made by the union members.
The college courtyard was adorned with these beautiful decor items which added to the festive atmosphere.The judges praised the students’ efforts, and the (depts) on winnimg first second and third prizes for payasam competition.
A batch entry competition was also held which was a visual treat. All batches were praised for their exceptional performances.
Onam Sadhya:
The Onam celebrations would have been incomplete without the traditional feast, Onam Sadhya. A grand banquet was arranged in the college hall, everyone were served the traditional meal on banana leaves. The feast consisted of over 20 dishes, including avial, thoran, sambar, rasam, and the iconic payasam. It was a delightful experience for everyone to come together and share this meal, symbolizing unity and prosperity.
Games and Competitions
In the afternoon, a variety of traditional games were organized. Competitions like Tug of War (Vadam Vali), Uriyadi (pot-breaking), and musical chair, Hungry Heroes etc created a fun and competitive atmosphere. The winners were awarded prizes, and the sportsmanship displayed by all participants added to the festive spirit.
The Onam celebration concluded by announcing and distributing prizes for the winners of the batch entry by Dr aby kuruvila and Dr Albert baby and with a vote of thanks by the dhruva Student Council. The day was a grand success, with active participation from everyone in the college community.
- DENTAL WEEK- DENTKRITI
The Dental Week is an exciting annual initiative organized by the Student Council, where both staff and students come together to showcase their diverse talents and engage in friendly competition. This year's event spanned a week and a half, taking place from October 14, 2024, to October 23, 2024, filled with a variety of engaging activities and programs.
Throughout the week, separate sessions were organized for students and staff to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to participate and shine in their respective talents. The participants were divided into three enthusiastic teams: Team A, named Aegaeons; Team B, called Inizios; and Team C, known as Squadrons. Each team was strategically led by a staff member, along with a designated captain and vice-captain, fostering leadership and cooperation among the participants.
The division of students into groups was carefully managed by the Student Council, with the guidance of key figures including Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar R.B., Administrative Officer Dr. Amal E.A., and staff advisors Dr. Albert Baby and Dr. Sreekala. Their involvement ensured a structured and fair process for team formation, along with a commitment to maintaining a level playing field throughout the competition. The highlight of the Dental Week was undoubtedly the team launch and the highly anticipated fashion show, which showcased creativity and teamwork. Students put in a tremendous amount of effort in preparation, resulting in a vibrant display of talent and imagination. The week concluded on a high note with an exhilarating DJ performance, leaving everyone in high spirits.
In the end, Aegaeons emerged victorious as the winning team, with Inizios taking the title of first runner-up and Squadrons having a commendable second runner-up position. The entire week brimming with activities truly refreshed the students' minds, fostered camaraderie, and created lasting memories for everyone involved.
- SPORTS MEET
On October 18, 2024, an exhilarating sports meet was held as part of Dentrikriti, the annual dental week celebration. This vibrant event featured a diverse array of competitions that showcased the talents and sportsmanship of both students and staff.
The competitions included a variety of engaging games such as Carroms, Chess, Table Tennis, and more physically demanding sports like Cricket, Football, Throw Ball, and Badminton. In addition to these team sports, traditional athletic events were prominently featured, including the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints, the challenging 800-meter race, and the exciting Relay. The field events comprised Shot Put, Javelin Throw, and Disc Throw, offering a comprehensive test of strength and skill.
Set against the backdrop of the school grounds and courts, the atmosphere was electric with excitement. The major events took place on a well-maintained turf, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., creating a perfect stage for competition. Enthusiastic students gathered to cheer on their peers, contributing to a spirited environment that motivated participants to perform their best.
However, the day was not without its challenges, as the weather turned rainy, momentarily hindering the proceedings. Yet, the organizers and participants showcased admirable resilience, and after a brief pause, the competitions resumed successfully.
At the conclusion of the events, individual champions were recognized based on their outstanding performances across both student and staff categories. Dr. Stacey and Mrs. Naseema emerged as the individual champions in the female staff category, while Dr. Afsal took the honor in the male staff category. From the student competitors, Ibnu triumphed in the male category, and Aiswarya shone in the female category.
Overall, the sports meet fostered a spirit of healthy competition, bringing together staff and students in a celebration of athleticism and camaraderie.
- FORMAL COMMENCEMENT 2024 batch
On November 14, 2024, a momentous occasion took place to mark the formal commencement ceremony for the 2024 batch of students at our institution. The event attracted an impressive turnout, with 100 students alongside their families gathering in the main auditorium, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and anticipation.
The ceremony commenced at 10:00 AM, with our esteemed principal, Professor Dr. Vinod Kumar R. B., delivering a heartfelt welcome speech. He extended his warm regards to all attendees and emphasized the significance of this milestone in the students' academic journeys.
Following the welcome address, our respected chairman, Sri K. M. Moosa Haji, took to the stage to deliver the presidential address. His words inspired all in attendance, reminding the students of the hard work ahead and the importance of their contributions to the field of healthcare.
The highlight of the morning was the inaugural address given by our distinguished chief guest, Dr. M. A. Mohamed, the Founder of KIMS Healthcare. He shared invaluable insights about the responsibilities and challenges that await the students as they embark on their medical careers.
The ceremony then transitioned to the revered white coat segment, symbolizing the students’ entry into the medical profession. Each student was presented with a white coat, alongside an oath scroll and a flower, serving as a token of love and encouragement from the institution. Dr. Lakshmipriya, the Head of the Department of Oral Pathology, eloquently outlined the Oath, reinforcing the ethical commitments that come with the practice of medicine.
Next, our managing director, Adv. Mijas K. M., delivered the keynote address. His powerful message resonated with everyone, as he urged the students to uphold the values of compassion, dedication, and excellence throughout their careers.
The ceremony included a special felicitation segment led by Dr. Annie George, the Head of the Department of Anatomy at Al Azhar Medical College. She acknowledged the achievements and potential of the students, instilling a sense of pride among all attendees.
As the event drew to a close, Dr. Amal E.A., our administrative officer, presented the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all speakers, attendees, and staff who contributed to the success of the ceremony.
To culminate the celebration, the college choir led everyone in singing the national anthem, creating a powerful and unifying moment for all those present.
