Dental Camps are usually a day-long visit to rural or general public centers or school settings for the provision of services like preventive care, curative care, screening for diseases and health education. The main objective of the camp is to impart education on dental issues, oral hygiene, treatments etc. The camp started with awareness talks on teeth cleanliness and oral hygiene.
The dental camps are conducted by the Department of Public health dentistry with the able guidance of department staff. Interns and students are regularly posted for camps where they get trained in conducting camps, screening patients,providing health education together with treating patients. Various treatments like extraction,scaling,restorations are conducted as part of treatment camps. Treatment privilege cards are provided for patients who require specialist care in dental college. Patients can avail the benefits of these privilege cards in the dental college at a later date.
